Monitoring and Evaluation Techniques & Tools
22nd – 25th April 2012
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
(Only for Females)
Monitoring & Evaluation practices and insights are becoming ever more important in today’s business and government landscape. Project Development processes are complex and multi-dimensional by nature. Adequately monitoring and evaluating these processes is challenging. Keeping track of progress, collecting data for management and for learning, providing sufficient reporting to account upwards to donors, downwards to beneficiaries and sideways to other partners requires a comprehensive and practical monitoring system. The challenge of evaluation lies in its potential to stimulate learning, to motivate people and to propose directives for the future. This course will enable you to turn monitoring and evaluation into steering and learning experiences for you and your organization.
Anyone who is interested to learn about monitoring and evaluation, or physically involve in designing, supervising, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project activities. You are a stakeholder who prepares, supervises, guides, uses and/or participates in evaluations. You work as desk officer, programme officer, task manager for national or local government, for an international donor agency, or for an NGO. You feel the necessity to further improve your monitoring/ evaluation abilities and your existing monitoring/ evaluation system.
This course will teach you how to apply monitoring and evaluation in projects, programmes and organizations, how various factors condition the value of monitoring and evaluation and how monitoring and evaluation can be turned into a (participative) learning experience. You will learn how to design a logical, systematic, multi-layered monitoring system and how to apply this to your organization. You will learn how to design, organize and steer evaluations in such a way that they contribute to accountability and improve learning amongst all stakeholders.
